Jewelry is a very personal thing. It’s the piece of you that goes everywhere you go, and it can be an expression of your personality and style. Not only that, but it’s often an investment: jewelry can last for years and years with proper care! Before you head out to buy some new baubles, ensure you know how to properly store your current collection. We are going to give you three tips for storing your jewelry (and cleaning it), so you don’t have to worry about losing anything precious along the way:

Tips for Storing Your Jewelry

It’s important to take care of your jewelry to stay in good shape for years. One way to do this is by storing it properly. Here are a few tips for storing your jewelry:

  • Keep It In A Jewelry Box
  • A jewelry box can help prevent tangles, keep things organized, and protect the pieces from damage (like getting scratched). It’s also a great place to store rings and earrings when you’re not wearing them because they can get lost easily if you’re constantly moving them around between drawers or compartments in bags. If you don’t have one already, pick up a nice wooden or plastic box at any major department store like Target or Macy’s!

Tips for Cleaning Your Jewelry

  • Use a soft cloth to clean your jewelry.
  • Cleaning your jewelry with water and soap is not recommended, as it can damage the piece’s surface. Instead, use a jewelry cleaner like Bijoux & Baubles Ladybug Jewelry Polish or Armor All’s Clear-Coat Protectant for a quick shine.
  • If you have intricate pieces with smaller crevices, use an old toothbrush (or even an old makeup brush) to scrub out any dirt that might be hiding there.

Which Metal Is Right For Me?

  • Gold: This metal can be scratched, but it’s also soft. It doesn’t hold up as well to wear and tear over time.
  • Silver: This is a harder metal than gold and is less likely to be scratched than its yellow counterpart.
  • Platinum: This precious metal is the hardest of all three options; it won’t scratch under normal circumstances (but you still should take care not to bang it around).

Jewelry maintenance isn’t hard to do if you just follow some simple tips.

Care for your jewelry by regularly cleaning it. Your jewelry should be cleaned after each wearing, but if you’re busy or just forget, once every two weeks is okay. You can use a polishing cloth to remove dirt and oil from your jewelry. A soft cloth will also work; just make sure not to use soaps or chemicals on your precious metals as they can cause damage to the finish of the metal. Just rub the cloth in circles until all the dirt is gone!

So there you have it. Jewelry maintenance isn’t hard to do if you just follow some simple tips. If you want to know more about jewelry care, check out our other blog posts on the subject or give us a call at (780) 986-8535.
